Traditional handmade furniture, with a difference..... using storm damaged trees from Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire we've created an exclusive and unique collection of functional Art
Almost everything we consume on this planet has
travelled thousands of miles before it reaches us and in some instances
the raw material travels half way round the world to be made into
products that are then sent back to their origin before being shipped to
a final destination.
It’s not all like this however; In 2006 Patrick Turk was
presented with an opportunity to
buy storm-damaged trees
from a privately owned
woodland within historic
Sherwood Forest.
Now, 5 years on, you can follow
the unique story of the journey
that both he and the trees
have taken to create
Forest 2 Furniture; an exclusive collection of traditionally handmade furniture using trees such as Oak, Sweet Chestnut and Yew.
One of woodlands we buy trees from dates back to the 12th century and was
once part of King John's Deer Park. Located barely 3 miles from the
legendary Major Oak and 1 mile from the historically important Parliament Oak.
Records
detailing the woodland as a working wood can be traced back over
several centuries with many of the trees being over 400 years old.
Unlike other companies we do not fell trees to produce our furniture.
We only use storm damaged trees that have grown in Nottinghamshire and more specifically within The Dukeries.
This is one of the reasons why the Forest 2 Furniture collection is so exclusive and unique - there will never be two pieces the same.
Thanks to a co-operative management scheme between woodland owners and Forest 2 Furniture, we are able to produce high quality handmade furniture that truly has the right to bear the description ‘Made in Sherwood Forest’.
So, how do we get from this...............
