Using fallen trees that in most cases are over 250
years old we have created an exclusive collection of beautiful furniture
that is not only a joy to look at but practical as well.
The trees we use for the collection are ones that have fallen in recent storms or have been damaged as a result of high winds.
In January 2005 and again in 2007 high winds cut across Nottinghamshire and as a result over 30 trees fell in King's Wood.
After the storms the owners of King's Wood had a dilemma, do they call in a timber firm to clear the fallen trees who would in the process destroy much of the forest floor and surrounding standing trees or should they find a more environmental solution.
They chose the latter and asked Patrick Turk for his advice.
Having been a cabinet maker for over 25 years Patrick could see the huge potential in the fallen trees and set out on a journey of discovery to find a way of removing, planking and drying the wood with the least impact on the environment.
In the following pages you'll find out how he achieved just that and why Forest 2 Furniture is so unique.
